Job Description

Overview of Position:

Performs skilled repair and maintenance work including diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment and systems, including electrical, electronics and mechanical.

II. Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

Trouble shooting/diagnosis of machine and/or equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties and effects repairs and adjustments in a manner which restores productivity and minimizes downtime.
Assembles, checks, calibrates and repairs electrical and electronic components, control panels and other devices using mechanical/electronic testing and checking equipment.
Reads and interprets blueprint ad schematics in the set up of electrical circuits and machinery.
Replaces fuses and sets circuit breakers on high and low tension circuits.
Performs all electrical work associated with general building maintenance and special building projects including repair/maintenance of hoists, welders, air compressors, transformers, gas regulation equipment, machine controls, circuits, etc.
Recommends the use of outside services as necessary.
Effectively uses hand and power tools in all repair and maintenance activities.
Follows established safety procedures and policies at all times.
Keeps supervisor informed of problems in any related areas: also keeps supervisor informed progress on projects.
Works with others in a cooperative manner; projects a “service-oriented” demeanor. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Job Requirements

Apprenticeship or equivalent training plus considerable experience is required to perform the work. Requires at least 4 years of experience in the filed or in a related area and a broad knowledge of fabricating practices, concepts and procedures. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Understands and applies Lean Manufacturing concepts. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires a working knowledge of computer software to include work processing and spreadsheets. Demonstrates ability to read, interpret and apply blueprints, weld symbols and procedures.
